Our history

Welcome to cyberchecker - the team dedicated to the mission of helping children and young people navigate safely through the world of TikTok and Co.

This is cyberchecker

Our team is made up of an experienced teacher and a marketing specialist who recognise the urgent need for a societal rethink on social media. We combine our knowledge and experience to support young people, teachers and parents to have safe and healthy online interactions.

Objective

Our aim is to raise awareness of how digital media can affect children's mental health. We also empower teachers and parents to address the issue and pay attention to children's online activities. We also aim to raise awareness across society as a whole, which is also desirable outside of school. We believe that by imparting knowledge and skills, we can help to promote a healthy and safe upbringing for children and young people.

Needs in the foreground

Our workshops and talks provide a safe space to address the challenges and risks associated with social media and find solutions tailored to each child's needs.

We believe that our shared knowledge and commitment to the safety and wellbeing of children and young people can help bring about positive change in society. We are proud to be part of this movement and hope that we can encourage you to join us! Let's all become Cyber Checkers!

I have been working in the marketing industry for over a decade and have specialised in social media in particular over the last eight years. For me, it is a fascinating challenge to reach people and get them excited about products or services. However, I have also observed that marketing activities can have a negative impact on children and young people - and even on us adults. It worries me how algorithms can influence or reinforce our opinions.

However, as a social media expert, it is also important for me to emphasise that social media is an incredibly valuable tool that connects people and gives them a platform to express themselves and show their creativity. I believe that it is possible to use social media in a positive and constructive way while empowering children and young people.

I am convinced that we as adults have a responsibility to teach children and young people how to use social media responsibly. By passing on our knowledge and experience, we can help them to protect themselves against negative influences and realise their full potential.

My aim is to provide children, young people, teachers and parents with the tools and knowledge they need to use social media in a positive way. I want to help them navigate the online space safely and confidently and become empathetic and reflective adults of tomorrow.

Let's work together to create a positive and constructive online community characterised by respect, empathy and creativity. By working together, we can empower the next generation and help make the world a better place."

"I am now in my 8th year as a teacher and I can say with conviction that I have the best job. I am passionate about educating and supporting children who, due to socio-economic factors, have to work harder in order to have a secure and stable future.

The interaction with children and young people gives me so much in return. It is always important to me that, in addition to the lesson content, I don't forget to incorporate their real lives into the lessons. Because schools and the system behind them don't yet understand how to give meaning to children's real everyday lives. For me, this is particularly evident in the area of digitalisation when I consider that smartphones with content such as social media or various games are part of children and young people's everyday lives.

I am increasingly realising that the world of social media is having an impact on the formation of opinions, physical and mental health and also on the learning capacities of children and young people. I find it particularly alarming that many children receive little to no guidance through all the stimuli of the digital world, yet they demand it or take up space in the classroom.

Whether it's incorrect or problematic body image, forming political opinions, cyberbullying, consumer behaviour and influencer worship, pornography, online career opportunities ... these and many other topics have already found a place in my lessons. Social media and the smartphone are the children's new daily newspaper.

In my grand vision, all children are given the opportunity to be guided through these stimuli so that they can mature into healthy, reflective and empathetic adults. Because parents are a key factor in raising awareness of social media, the multilingual approach of cyberchecker is particularly important to me.

Let's all make sure that society as a whole can rethink its approach to social media! With digitalisation and social media, so many doors are open to us - creativity, networking, diversity, knowledge and much more. - We just need the right tools to stay healthy and aware of the wealth of content. The youngest members of society in particular deserve to be accompanied by informed adults through the dangerous, but also colourful and beautiful world of social media."
